I wrote and directed this “Event-Version” of Les Misérables for the opening of Verdi’s Bundestagskongress. My take on it is to create a small version that still has the emotional impact of the full show. Even though some of the audience might not have seen the full musical, they should still quickly understand the story, build sympathy with the characters, follow a storyline that connects with the audience and reach the desired emotional response at the end.
