We opened this show during the first lockdown, in march 2020. We were only allowed a limited amount of people in the audience and they weren’t permitted to take part as much as they wanted to. I will bring it back this year when hopefully the restrictions have been lifted. The idea for this “Theatre piece with music” came up during a conversation I had with Floy and my good friend Brigitte Sely. Janis Joplin has always played a special part in Floy’s life, and the idea of creating a performance for theatre audiences really intrigued her. Performing Janis Joplin material accompanied only by piano was another ver interesting aspect. But, then it needed to be with a pianist who knew the genre and were able to create a piano score worthy of the style and legendary music. Floy herself were full of stories of how Janis Joplin had influenced her throughout her life, including her style of singing, so we decided to write a show out of Floys perspective. I read up on Janis Joplin and put pen to paper. The result is a - “Play with Music” - about the life and times of Janis Joplin and the effect it has had, and still has today, on Floy, and on so many around the world. It’s a moving and personal story for Floy, where her passion for Janis Joplin, and her music, is quickly shared by the audience.
